This error can happen due to several factors, either because the page of a website has been deleted or changed, the URL has been written wrong in the browser, or the server is having problems to find the requested resource.
In case that any of these factors are present in your web page, you must correct it so that it does not affect the SEO and you see your site fall into the Google search results because this can take it as a broken link a failure in your website.
The easiest way to do this is by modifying the .htaccess file of our server, adding the following line of code:
ErrorDocument 404 /404.html
Once added to your file, you must create the indicated page to be shown when this error happens, that is, we are indicating that, show the document 4040.html instead of the error page.
